Barbara Beck has been the chief human resources officer at Skidmore College for nearly 10 years. She has more than 25 years of human resource experience in various industries, including academic, corporate, manufacturing, banking, and hospital.
Barbara has consulted and facilitated in the areas of change management, team building, consensus building, leadership development, project planning, and conflict resolution. Additionally, she has conducted training sessions and is often asked to speak on topics including effective interviewing, change acceleration, conducting effective performance appraisals, facilitation, effective job search strategies, and leadership development. She has presented at CUPA-HR Nationals in Seattle in 1999 and Salt Lake City in 2004, CUPA-HR Eastern Regional Hyannis in 2000 and Newport in 2004.
Barbara is a competitive sailor, an avid landscaper and gardener, and enjoys outdoor sports and activities. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York, and her graduate degree in psychology from Goucher College in Baltimore.
