Did you read the September 2011 Business Officer article on how to assess what your institution can safely stop doing? "Business Unusual" provides tips for identifying work priorities according to three categories:

  1. Work that absolutely needs to get done because it contributes directly to strengthening the institution.
  2. Projects that would be nice to do but may not have the greatest impact.
  3. Work that is no longer realistic for financial leaders and divisions to focus on.
